Hyundai announced the launch of a new, updated version of the ground-breaking Veloster Turbo in America. The 2014MY of the coupe with unique doors comes with new comfort and convenience features, as well as a Torque Vectoring System as standard.
Torque Vectoring, for those who may not know, uses wheel speed sensors coupled with ESC algorithms to apply precise braking force to the inside front wheel during spirited cornering. In short, this system counters understeer by applying the brakes to the wheels that are spinning the power away, and enhance car’s cornering capabilities.
2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo still has the same 1.6 liter Gamma turbo four-banger with a peak output of 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. It can be had with either a six-speed manual or six-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission (DCT). One new feature on the 2014 model is the Active Sound Design which enhances intake and exhaust powertrain sound character inside the cabin. More and more hot hatches and coupes are using this system nowadays to compensate for the lack of good exhaust noise in turbocharged models.
Other enhancements made to the 2014 Velosi include rearview camera, driver’s blind-spot mirror and daytime running lights now standard equipment on all models; Automatic Temperature Control for the Turbo; and updated Hyundai BlueLink platform with Hyundai Assurance Connected Care telematics services.
