Neiman Marcus will be displaying an example of their special motoring item from this year’s Christmas catalog at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. It’s an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante customized by the British company’s bespoke department, called ‘Q’.
Limited to just 10 units, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Neiman Marcus Edition is a rather special bit of kit, as it is inspired by the iconic (1969) DB6 Volante currently owned by HRH Prince of Wales. That car was featured in the Royal wedding of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Kate Middleton.
Technically, the Vanquish Volante boasts the same new AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine as the coupe and the same blistering performance figures, meaning the top speed stands at 183 mph. What sets it apart is a triple-skin lightweight fabric roof can be operated at speeds of up to 30 mph and takes just 14 seconds to fold.
Aston Martin is adamant this car has the stiffest Volante body structure they have ever created, which is reassuring, because the DB9 and DBS Volante that came before this always felt a bit loose when traveling a bit quicker than usual.
Special paint finish, wheels, trim pieces – such as wood veneer instead of the usual carbon fiber – and interior colors give the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Neiman Marcus Edition the exclusivity that justifies its predictably mahoosive price tag.
