Jaguar officially confirmed, and released the first picture of, the coupe version of the F-Type sports car. It will make it world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show over the next few days. They make no secret of the fact that it is very similar to the C-X16 concept which was the base for the F-Type project.

Jaguar F-Type Coupe is said to be the most dynamically capable, performance-focused, production Jaguar ever. It boasts an all-aluminum construction, so it is fairly lightweight, and since the coupe body shape is more rigid than the convertible, it should be able to outpace its open-top sister in terms of dynamics.

It could also have a bigger boot than the F-Type convertible, which has a cubbyhole for a trunk. But choosing between the two based on which one’s prettier is going to be a tough job. We guess the convertible would still be the car of choice for those who want to have fun, while the coupe would find a lot of fans among the track-day aficionados and 911 junkies.

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, said: “The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for F-TYPE Coupé is a very significant moment. We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to F-TYPE Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports Coupé is a uniquely satisfying process – and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-TYPE Coupé raises the bar yet again.”
