The new Chevrolet SS performance sedan has a lot of potential for custom jobs, but they are apparently taking it slow. This is the only official tuned SS at this year’s SEMA show, prepared in collaboration with NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, who races one of these in the series.

On the outside, Jeff Gordon Chevrolet SS features sating paint finish complemented with No. 24 graphics, custom-finished 20-inch wheels, a carbon fiber rear spoiler and a custom front grille. The interior is re-trimmed with perforated suede seat inserts and embroidered headrests and a racing-style flat-bottom steering wheel and Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit.

As you can see, the visual upgrades are rather limited. That’s because Jeff has spent more attention to bring the performance of this car up to date. He fitted the Chevy SS with lowered suspension, high-performance brakes and a Borla performance exhaust system. These bits and bobs really bring out the savage side of the SS.

The engine powering Chevrolet SS is a LS3 6.2L V-8 rated at 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Sadly, it only comes with a six-speed automatic that is not even a dual-clutch.
