Just like a sportsman who spends a lot of time in the gym preparing for an upcoming big event, every new car goes through various stages of tests and evaluations before the engineers sign it off for its motor show debut and after that market launch.
Here’s we follow the new Porsche Macan as it takes to the Weissach track, Porsche own high-tech testing facility, for some proper work out that is guaranteed to push it to the limit. The car will make its debut next week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The new Porsche Macan is based on the same platform as the Audi Q5, but it is nothing like Audi in terms of driving dynamics. Here’s a small utility vehicle – or crossover, if you like – doing powerslides. The base Macan S comes with a 340 hp and 460 Nm 3.0 liter V6 engine. The Macan Turo gets a 3.6 liter V6, obviously turbocharged, boasting 400 hp and 550 Nm of torque.
If you care more about economy than speed, then Porsche Macan Diesel is the one for you, with a 3.0 liter diesel V6 generating 258 hp. Later in 2014, an entry-level four-cylinder Macan could be launched.
