Toyota is taking SEMA very seriously this year. Their American brand Scion is bringing a large collection of tuned model to the show, and not to be outdone by their inferiors, the Japanese decided to make six of their own. So they launch the Toyota Dream Build Challenge campaign.
The result of this campaign is a collection of six Toyota vehicles, each tuned with a different theme in mind. Let’s begin with the LifeTime Fitness RAV4, a car designed to the ultimate outdoor vehicle. It is fitted with a hot water shower with a 5-gallon fresh water tank, a spin dryer and gear storage compartments in the rear cargo area, massage seat, refrigerator, and a custom roof rack. Pretty cool.
Snow-Ready DC Shoes Tacoma is the next contender, and its highlights include a pop-up tent that sits on the roof with access via ladder, a 40-inch LED light bar, mounted iPad mini connected via Bluetooth for navigation, videos and other content and all-weather Scoshe boomBOTTLE wireless speaker.
The outdoor theme continues with the Challenge Crusher Corolla. This car comes with custom grind rails added to the front and rear of the vehicle, rally wheels and a rack that mounts two bikes along the vehicle’s back window. Inside, custom iPad integration controls the interior features, including music out of upgraded speakers shaped in the Skullcandy logo. Both front seat headrests are 3:1 scale representations of Skullcandy’s newest Crusher headphones.
Let’s Go Moto Tundra is another truck-based wonder, offering custom-built metal box that accommodates the length of a motocross bike, plus three TV screens on doors that swing open, fridge, power washer, helmet dryer and space for tools, back-up gear and hydrogen tanks. This thing is a motocross rider’s dream.
The good old Camry was into left out thanks to Challenge CamRally. Racing seats, turbos, racing windows, a roll cage, powerful brakes and heat protection add functionality and safety to the car for rough terrain. Fog lights and an aerodynamic package enhance the ability of the car when it hits the road. Who knew the Camry could someday become a rally car?!
Our favorite of the bunch is the Ultimate Dream Ski 4Runner, a car designed to be the skiing companion ever. It features oversized front grill work, a dark Oakley camouflage-patterned vehicle wrap, LED lights and a rugged, metal roof rack designed to electronically lower and open to store two sets of skis, as well as doors, music, windows and other interior features are controlled by three separate iPads for a high-end, customized experience. The best features include a coffeemaker, a dryer for each glove and boot and a mountable grill stored in the rear cargo area.
