It’s not coming directly from Toyota, but the officials at Dubai Motor Show announced, and even released a picture, of the Toyota GT86 Sedan, set for debut at the Middle East’s biggest motoring event. It will be unveiled in Dubai as the FT86 Sedan.
We have hearing rumors about a four-door version of the GT86 sports car for the past few weeks, but because they had shelved the GT86 Convertible project before, nobody thought they would actually go through with the sedan version.
That said, this could be another experimental concept, designed to cause a bit of a stir, and then spend years and years on the drawing board without any intention to become a production model.
Whether they will make this thing or not remain to be seen. But as an idea, Toyota GT86 Sedan makes a lot of sense. The coupe version of the car is essentially a two-seater. Those tight rear seats are basically useless. By giving the car four doors and four proper seats, Toyota will increase its appeal and make it desirable for a wider audience. But a sedan version of the GT86 is going to need some extra oomph. The extra length and extra weight is going to be too much to handle for the current 200hp 2.0 liter engine.
