The owner of West Coast Choppers Jesse James has come up with a rather unusual idea for this year’s SEMA show. Inspired Texas restaurateur Tim Love, he has built an 8-foot combination Kitchen Aid oven and white oak chopping block that extends from the Toyota Tundra truck bed. The car is yet to be unveiled at SEMA.
Visual clues that let you this Toyota Tundra mobile kitchen is something far more interesting than a pickup truck include Texas Longhorn, “Come and Take it” slogan, and phrase “West Coast Choppers Texas Barbecue” printed on it. The truck is also lifted 4 inches, and features black fenders that further distinguish the looks. N-FAB nerf steps, Method Race Wheels, and a powerful battery are among the other changes.
“We didn’t want anything silly. We wanted a high-end look to go along with the fully serviceable chef’s kitchen,” James said. “Nothing is visible until you slide out the stovetop from the back. It came out great.”
Inside the truck bed, there are Two WEATHER GUARD side coolers that help keep meat at safe temperatures while traveling, and stainless steel compartments store individual condiments. The idea is that you can have your favorite steak prepared in a jiffy wherever you are. It might sound dumb to a European, but to an American this is the best feature ever fitted to any car.
