As you may know, Acura has acquired exclusive sponsorship of Jerry Seinfeld’s successful web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Now to reinforce their position and create some hype for the third season of CCGC that premieres on the web on January 2, 2014, they’ve created a series of eight funny commercials.

These spots are written by Seinfeld and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, and stylized in a retro 1960s style as a spoof of old-time advertising. They also make fun of Acura’s luxury features by doing silly stuff with them, such as filling the boot of MDX with potato salad.

Jerry Seinfeld’s relationship with Acura started back in 2012 and his role in the first ever commercial for the new NSX super car. Acura is returning the favour by supporting Jerry’s web show. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, for those who may not know,  is a sort of like a funny chat show on wheels, where Seinfeld picks up other famous comedians in vintage automobiles and takes them out for coffee and funny, intimate conversations. The first two seasons of the show were quite successful, and Jeryr was even nominated for an Emmy award.

You can watch all eight spots on Acura’s YouTube Channel.

“My idea for ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee’ was to show this certain aspect of the stand-up comedy world in a way that comedy fans would enjoy experiencing as if they were there,” said Jerry Seinfeld. “There is absolutely no doubt that without Acura’s support I would not have been able to continue beyond the initial experiment. And now Acura has enabled me to extend the concept by creating ads that fit the comedy tone of the show. I can’t think of a similar situation ever occurring anywhere and I am enormously grateful to Mike Accavitti for his vision and confidence in us. This could not be more fun.”
