Gallardo Replacement to be Called Lamborghini Huracan

Fresh details emerge on the Lamborghini Gallardo replacement, and it all sounds very exciting. First of all, it’s not called the Cabrera as we were led to believe for the past year or so. Apparently, the new model is called Lamborghini Huracan which is a cooler, more provocative name.

Now, Huracan is Spanish is for Hurricane and Mayan for the god of fire, wind and storms. So you might be thinking why the new Lambo is not named after a bull? But we’re sure at some point in the history of bulls there must have been one called Huracan. Regardless, it is a fantastic name for a Lamborghini.

This info comes from the well-informed folks at AutoExpress, who can also confirm the new baby bull will be unveiled later this month as a sort of Christmas surprise, as expected. The 2015 Lamborghini Huracan will retain the V10 engine – albeit updated to make 600 horsepower in the base model – bolted to a new space frame chassis that it’ll share with the next Audi R8.

To be officially unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the Huracan’s design is influenced by the Sesto Elemento and the Aventador. The cabin will probably be scaled-down version of the Aventador’s with the same sort of fighter jet-style flip-up starter button.
