The new generation Hyundai Genesis sedan makes its formal public debut at the Detroit Motor Show ahead of its launch in the American market later this year. The new sedan will bring many new features to the table, along with a fresh, grown-up look. The 2015 Genesis shares almost nothing with the car that went before in terms of design.
2015 Hyundai Genesis does however share its engine lineup with the old model though. It includes the 5.0-liter Tau V8 engine, now with 420 horsepower and 383 lb. ft. of torque, and the 3.8-liter direct-injected Lambda V6, tuned in the sedan at 311 horsepower and 293 lb.-ft. of torque.
The sedan is based on a new and ultra-rigid rear-wheel-drive platform, with available HTRAC all-wheel-drive, which provides an electronic, variable-torque-split clutch with active torque control between the front and rear axles.
Being a luxury car, ride comfort is of great importance in the 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan. So a fully-independent, 5-link front and rear suspension has been employed, complete with Continuous Damping Control (CDC) on V8 models, and Rack-mounted Motor Driven Electric Power Steering (R-MDPS), with a Variable Gear Ratio (VGR). New 18-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels are stronger and resist deflection forces for more precise suspension response to changing road surfaces.
One of the highlights of the new Genesis is the second-generation Blue Link and infotainment features. It comes with a full host of Google services, and is even compatible with Google Glass, enabling Intelligent Assistant features via an app that allows you to do stuff like lock and unlock the car or start the engine remotely.
As usual, a long of list of standard and available convenience and safety features wraps up the package offered by Hyundai Genesis. Detailed specs and ricing will be announced later.
