Czech car maker Skoda announced the launch of a new, ultra-frugal version of the Octavia Hatchback in the UK. The car belongs to Skoda’s famed GreenLine family, which are the most popular cars they make for their amazing economy and low running costs.
The new car is of course no exception. Powered by a 1.6-litre TDI CR 110PS diesel engine, the Skoda Octavia GreenLine averages 88.3 mpg while CO2 emissions are just 85g/km. Besides the savings in fuel costs, those numbers also mean huge tax benefits.
What we like most about the Skoda Octavia GreenLine though is how normal it looks. Volkswagen usually paints their Eco cars in horrible colors and takes off as much luxury as they can. That is not the case with this Soda. The only telltale sign of this car’s green credentials are a couple of GreenLine badges inside and out.
Apart from the frugal engine, Skoda Octavia GreenLine also benefits from a number of fuel saving measures, including low rolling resistance tyres fitted to 16-inch ‘Velorum’ alloy wheels and inflated to a higher pressure, Start-Stop system which is standard across the Octavia range, and regenerative brakes.
Skoda Octavia GreenLine hatchback is priced at £20,150 in the British market.
