McLaren’s chief executive Mike Flewitt sheds more light on their top secret new project, which, by the looks of things, has only one goal: kill Porsche 911. It is McLaren’s new sports car, called the P13, which slots below the 12C and rivals the likes of Porsche 911 and Audi R8.

McLaren P13 is well-prepared to take on the Porsche 911 and beat it in its own game. The car will boast a carbon fiber composite chassis, a twin-turbo V8 engine, and the same sort of alien-like technologies that mark the 12C and P1 hyper car aside.

So technologically, the P13 will light years ahead of the Porsche 911, which has an aluminum body, and has a flat-six hanging off its bottom. But, as we know from the McLaren 12C-Ferrari 458 rivalry, high-tech stuff is not always the answer. That is where McLaren plays another ace, with the 13’s pricing. The British sports car will reportedly be priced form just £120,000.

Smaller and lighter than the 12C, McLaren P13 will be powered by a de-tuned version of the supercar’s V8 engine, rated at 450 horsepower. Using a dual-clutch seven-speed transmission, the P13 will deal with the 0-60 task in 4 seconds, and hit a top speed of 185 mph.
