Michael Schumacher’s 1998 Ferrari F1 Car Sells for $1.7 Million

More news from Barrett-Jackson auction, and this time about a very special Formula One car. It is a 1998 Ferrari F300 F1 racer driven by Michael Schumacher in his early days with the Scuderia. It put on a good show for bidders at the Scottsdale event by revving its engine, and went for a cool $1.7 Million.

The fact the Schumacher is currently in coma may have something to do with the car selling for that price. After all, if, God forbid, something happens to Michael, this F300 will undoubtedly go up in value. Not that we are suggesting the buyer got it as an investment. We like to think he was a true Schumacher fan.

Michael Schumacher’s 1998 Ferrari F300 was driven by the legend 38 times as one of the most important of the principle test cars during early proving sessions. In total, nine F300s were built for the 1998 season. This car is chassis number 3, which makes it even more special.

The car belongs to the V10 era and has a screaming 3.0 liter engine with over 800 horsepower. It’s not a dummy either, as it works perfectly well and can rev up to 18K rpm.
