New Hyundai Genesis Wins iF Design Award

Hyundai Genesis Wins iF 600x369 at New Hyundai Genesis Wins iF Design Award

Hyundai’s new 2015 Genesis sedan gets off to a flying start, winning a major design award a few weeks after its debut at Detroit Motor Show. The award in question is ‘iF Product Design Award 2014’ in the ‘Transportation design / special vehicles’ category.

The new Hyundai Genesis sedan features a new interpretation of the firm’s fluidic sculpture design philosophy with long wheelbase and short overhangs. What we find most interesting though is how it doesn’t share a single detail with the car that went before. In fact none of Hyundai’s all-new models have any similarity to their predecessors.

The Genesis is not only a handsome car – at least for the money – it is also a well-engineered, well-equipped car with tons of technology features usually found on much more expensive models. It high levels of driving security, comfort and safety, along with astonishing value for money. You ask yourself why anyone would pay extra for a European model. You don’t have to look far for the answer, though. It’s prestige. This is, after all, a Hyundai.

Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer at Hyundai Motor Company, commented: “Recognition from the iF jury is further evidence of the transformation in Hyundai design in recent years. My vision for the brand is to create more connections with our customers. Design is the ultimate expression of a brand and its values, it establishes the connection. All-new Genesis, which takes the evolved design of Hyundai models and shows how it can translate across segments, is already connecting to Europeans on an emotional level.”
