Porsche confirmed its lineup for the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, and as expected, it includes a new Targa version of the 911, the 991 series. Other highlights of the show for Porsche include the American debut of the Macan S and Macan Turbo, and a couple of special edition Cayennes.
The new Porsche 991 Targa remains the most interesting object on display though, as they say it “echoes the design of the original 911 Targa of 1965,” featuring a distinctive Targa bar, a movable center roof section and a wrap-around rear window. The car also comes with a very clever roof apparently; a technical solution that makes it a modern classic, according to Porsche.
They go as far as saying: “if you’re going to have a roof over your head, make it an amazing on.”
2014 NAIAS will also see the debut of the Cayenne Platinum Edition and Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition. These models come with special exterior and interior appointments that set them apart from normal models, and are both fully-loaded with features and equipment. The main highlights include Platinum Silver Metallic paint job, and an exclusive two-tone standard interior in Black/Luxor Beige.
The Cayenne Platinum with a 300 hp V6 is priced at $63,300, while the Cayenne Diesel Platinum with a 240 hp V6 diesel will set you back $66,900.
These Cayenne are fine cars, but those who want a Porsche semi off-roader will probably go for the new boy, the Macan, which launches in America in spring, priced from $49,900 for the Macan S and $72,300 for the Macan Turbo.
