We were kind of hoping to see a close-to-production version of the all-new 2015 Land Rover Defender at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. That is not the case, but the British car maker is bringing a pair of new special edition models that are quite interesting. The Defender is growing into something uncharacteristically posh in its last days.
The new models are Land Rover Defender Black and Silver packs, based on the Highline XS models of both 90 and 110, boasting a host of optional features including a new aluminium finish to the vehicle’s side runners, contrast finish leather seats, privacy glass and, for the first time, an ebony Alston headliner which brings a touch of luxury and prestige to the rugged legend.
The Black Pack is set apart by its Santorini black exterior, tinted windows, ebony Alston headliner, and gloss black heavy duty wheels. Likewise, the Silver Pack is distinguished by a bright Indus silver finish, contrasting roof, white rear lamp lenses, and Dual Finish alloy wheels.
Furthermore, Land Rover Defender Black and Silver can be specified with Windsor leather inserts, and a choice of three colourways; Ebony/Pimento, Ebony/Tan or Ebony/Lunar, continued through the second and third row seats on Station Wagons. Both models also get ABS and dynamic stability control as standard.
