To counterbalance the bad press Caterham Seven 620R received from Top Gear’s James May recently, the British sports car maker strapped one of their own, Caterham F1 Team‘s Kamui Kobayashi, in the car and let him loose on the track. Let’s just say he is a better judge of the 620’s capabilities than Mr. Slowly.

Priced at £49,995, Caterham Seven 620R is currently the most expensive and fastest car the firm makes. It has a 310 horsepower Ford engine which takes it from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph.

Kobayashi  commented: “For me, this is a pure car; everything else is just transportation. Normally, with a new car, it takes a few laps to understand it; with this car, after one corner, I understand it straight away. I feel like this is a car that I am driving, rather than the car driving me and that is a very good feeling.

“The power of the 620 R is awesome – I can’t believe you can drive this car on the road, it is definitely the closest thing to a racing car.”
