So the hard-top Coupe version of the Jaguar F-Type sports car is finally here, and if the open-top version is any indication, it is going to be brilliant. Except it isn’t. It is something more than brilliant, at least according to the guys from XCAR, who are amongst the first journalists taking the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe for a ride.
Granted, XCAR rarely says bad things about the car they drive, but their struggle to find anything wrong with the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe is well justified. Yes, the car has flaws like impracticality, or an ostentatiously loud exhaust. But it is a sporty, high-performance coupe. It is supposed to be like this.
So, one extremely positive review coming up:
Just to recap for those who weren’t paying attention, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine with 550PS/680Nm, delivering acceleration to 60mph in 4.0-seconds, and a top speed of 186mph (electronically limited). It is the most powerful engine in the range, and although power is intoxicating, you are better off with one of the V6s Jaguar offers for the car, as they are equally fun, a bit more economical, and a bit less embarrassing in terms of exhaust noise.
