Citroen released a teaser shot if their latest concept and announced its world debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show later this month. Called the DS X7, this car shows us what a SUV version of Citroen’s DS range would look like. It is not a concept. They are going to make the DS X7, but only for the Chinese market.
Citroen DS X7 is the production version of the Wild Rubis Concept and features a similarly crazy styling on the line with other DS models. You will find lots of turns and twists in the X7’s body, and more styling details than a Fabergé egg. But it will look good, because DS Citroens always do.
Mechanically, the SUV will be powered by a range of small-displacement engines, including the firm’s 1.6 liter turbocharged unit in different states of tune. Four-wheel-drive will be offered, but it will probably be an optional extra. Citroen DS X7 will be priced between 160,000 to 200,000 Yuan. There are no plans to offer a similar model in Europe.
Citroen is also bringing to China a high-performance version of the DS 5LS sedan, called DS 5LS R, powered by a 300 horsepower version of the 1.6 liter engine mentioned above.
