In a star-studded debut ceremony fit for a brand like Ferrari, the new California T was last night introduced to the British clients and fans. The exclusive event was held at Somerset House on the banks of the River Thames in London where over 400 Ferrari clients, media and celebrities gathered to see the new boy.
Inspired in design by the legendary 250 Testa Rossa from the 50’s and boasting the first turbocharged Ferrari engine since the irreplaceable F40, the new Ferrari California T is a huge improvement over its predecessor, which, like the old Dino, was never really accepted by the fans of the brand as a real Fezza.
The new car still features the retractable hardtop that folds into the boot, and it still offers 340 liters of luggage space, which is plenty for a Ferrari. But it also offers a 0-100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 316 km/h – true supercar performance.
That performance is courtesy of a brand-new 3.85 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, developing 560 horsepower and over 750 nm of torque. Power is harnessed by employing ESC with F1-Trac system, and put to good use through an F1 dual clutch 7-speed transmission. Average fuel consumption of the new Cali is 10.5 l/100 km.
