Land Rover revealed they will unveil the new generation of the Discovery SUV at the upcoming New York Auto Show later this month, albeit in concept form. The car will showcase Land Rover’s design vision for a new family of Discovery vehicles, plus advanced new technologies.
The car maker promises the new Land Rover Discovery will retain the unrivalled capability and ultimate versatility of the previous model, as those qualities are the Disco’s signature dish. But it will have a more “emotive” design, meaning it will look and feel less agricultural.
The new Disco will also benefit from a wide range of new and innovative technologies. The teaser video gives us a glimpse of the interior, and it looks properly modern, certainly not what a traditional Discovery buyer would expect. The rotary gear change knob also seems to be making a comeback.
Gerry McGovern, Design Director and Chief Creative Officer for Land Rover, commented: “Discovery has been pivotal in helping to build the foundations of the Land Rover brand. It is admired all over the world and loved by its strong customer base. We have created the Vision Concept to share the essence of Land Rover’s new age of Discovery and to debut a new, compelling, relevant design direction that connects on an emotional level with customers of today and tomorrow.”
