Hennessey Performance is proposing a new upgrade package for the Chevrolet SS with a maximum power output of one thousand horsepower. We don’t know of many 1000-hp four-door sedans that actually work, but Hennessey is confident their will. In order to make this car they take a standard Chevy SS, and immediately throw its 6.2 liter V8 engine away.

Chevrolet SS HPE1000 comes with its own bespoke 427 cid (7.0 liter) LSX engine. But that’s just the beginning. Next, they install forged low compression pistons, steel connecting rods, Callies 4340 steel crank, ARP main studs & head bolts, and modified cylinder heads.

Then HP engineers get busy with less complicated stuff, installing valvetrain parts, custom HPE camshaft, FAST LSX intake manifold, and upgraded fuel injectors, lines, rails and pumps, in preparation for the turbocharger kit.

The turbo system includes twin ball bearing turbochargers, dual wastegates, electronic boost controller, stainless steel piping and exhaust, air-to-air intercooler, high-flow K&N air filter, 160 degree thermostat, and finally HPE software.

Furthermore, Chevrolet SS HPE1000 can be equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, something not currently offered by Chevy, as well as upgraded suspension and brakes, carbon aero kit, and custom interior.
