Subaru finally announced the launch of a tricked-out, special edition version of the BRZ in America. It’s called the Series.Blue edition and it costs nearly 5 grand more than the standard model. And it still has that pathetic 2.0 liter 200 horsepower engine.
What you get from the Subaru BRZ Series.Blue is a fancy exterior featuring lots of STI goodies and a few extra options that are fitted as standard, and that’s about it. What everybody has been asking for since the first day Toyota and Subaru launched this spots car, though, is more power. But for some reason the car makers are reluctant to comply. They still think that 200 hp “will do.”
Subaru BRZ Series.Blue does benefit from slightly better aerodynamic properties, thanks to its new black STI front, side, and side-rear under spoilers, as well as underbody panels. All BRZ models for 2015 feature new, larger stainless steel exhaust tips and a new shark fin antenna. Inside, the car gets leather and Alcantara upholstery with blue leather seat bolsters and head restraints plus blue stitching blue and black leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter.
2015 Subaru BRZ Series.Blue is limited to 1000 units, half of them WR Blue Pearl, the other half Crystal White Pearl. It is priced at $29,490 with a destination charge of $795.
