The best way to measure a car’s performance in the real world is to put it up against another car that you know is quick. You can read numbers and specs all the day long, but the only true decider is a head to head battle. The result can defy really surprise you.
BMW M4 is one of the hottest cars launched this year. It has a new six-cylinder turbo engine which looks very good on paper, but has not yet fully proved itself. So the guys from Motorsport Magazine pitted it against an established performance car, the Corvette C7 Stingray.
This is a 0-200 km/h acceleration test of BMW M4 vs Corvette Stingray:
Corvette Stingray is powered by a 450 horsepower naturally-aspirated V8 engine and benefits from advanced electronics and a lightweight body, as well pretty massive, grippy tires. BMW M4, meanwhile, relies on a turbocharged six-cylinder engine with 430 horsepower, but it is backed by M GmbH’s years of experience in making sports car. It has one of the best chassis in the world, and one of the most sophisticated drivetrains.
