Callaway has been working on a performance upgrade package for the Corvette Stingray for the past few months, and now they seem ready to finally launch it as they confirm the official specs. The 2015 Callaway Corvette Stingray SC627 is rated at 627 horsepower and 610 lb-ft (830 Nm) of torque.
Those numbers show a significant increase over the standard Stingray’s 455 horsepower. The extra oomph is the result of some deep modifications implemented on the LT1 V8 engine that powers the new ‘Vette including a supercharger, single acoustic chamber exhaust, a beefy intercooler and bespoke intakes.
Callaway Corvette Stingray SC627 package costs around $23,000 and currently doesn’t offer anything besides the power boost, apart from sill panels, badges, keyfobs, and a vented hood that exposes the top of the supercharger; kind of like what Chevy themselves did with the previous generation Corvette ZR1.
Callaway Corvette Stingray can be considered as an alternative to the 2015 Corvette Z06. That car has even more power (650 hp) and it looks quite a lot cooler. But then it also costs considerably more.
