BMW M4 vs Corvette Stingray 600x333 at Track Test: BMW M4 vs Corvette Stingray

When European road testers want to review the new BMW M4, they pit it against its most obvious rivals, the Audi RS5 and Mercedes C63 Coupe. In America though, the car they compare the M4 to is the Corvette Stingray, probably because that’s the closest thing to a sports car they have!

We kid, of course. Corvette Stingray C7 is a fantastic speed machine that offers the same performance as a fine European sports car, and much more besides, at a very reasonable cost. But should you choose it over an M4, which is the undisputed king of all sports coupes?

That’s what the guys from Automobile Magazine are trying to work out in this BMW M4 vs Corvette Stingray video:

On paper, Corvette Stingray is more of a match for the previous generation M3, the E92, as it has a V8 engine. But the M4’s turbocharged straight-six makes 430 horsepower, which is closer to the ‘Vette’s output of 450. On the track, it all comes down to the chassis and how these cars deliver their power to the ground. On normal roads the BMW will have the upper hand because, after all, it is based on a sedan.
