It is not exactly a secret that here at MW we have a soft spot for female racing drivers. There is just something strangely attractive about a girl who can drive well! Danish Porsche Carrera Cup driver Michelle Gatting definitely makes the ranks when it comes to driving well, so when we came across these photos of her with a Porsche 991 GT3, it was a no brainer they had to be featured.
The 20-year-old races a competition-spec 911 for a living, so she had no problem adjusting to the rather uneasy nature of the Porsche 991 GT3. In fact she found it quite a delight to drive even at low speed. And it takes a lot to impress Michelle. This is a girl who does military-style CrossFit workout and boxing in her free time!
The red Porsche 991 GT3 Michelle sampled in this drive has a lot in common with her racing car. The car boasts a Porsche double-clutch transmission (PDK) which changes gears with lightning speed; it has aerodynamic features very similar to that of the Carrera Cup car; and then there’s that sweet 470 horsepower flat-six motor. The road car differs from the racing machine in the fact that it is quite happy traveling at slow speed, and it has some extra mechanical features like the rear-wheel-steering system and an electric steering system.
“My boyfriend is from a Porsche family, and I can even borrow one of the models on occasion,” said Michelle. “It’s unusual that a young thing like me would be allowed to drive such a fantastic car.”
