Lamborghini is stepping up their Huracan game with the introduction of a new GT3 racing version. This car is a follow up to the Super Trofeo Huracan and will be the star of Blancpain Endurance Series from next season.
In this action-filled teaser, Lamborghini Huracan GT3 is shown hitting the race track for the first time at the “Piero Taruffi” circuit, Vallelunga. The job of fine-tuning the GT3 is given to the two official Lamborghini Squadra Corse test drivers Adrian Zaugg and Fabio Babini.
Just like the Super Trofeo, Lamborghini Huracan GT3 is developed in partnership with Dallara Automobili based on the production version. The race car features the same basic powertrain and running gear as the road car, albeit heavily revised and improved for track work.
Lamborghini R&D official test driver Giorgio Sanna, who oversees the development project, commented: “I’m pretty much satisfied with this first test of the new Huracán GT3. We still have plenty of work to do to be ready for the upcoming season, but performance and reliability feedback is encouraging. I have no doubt that this car will more than hold its own in international GT3 competitions.”
Lamborghini Huracan GT3 will start its Blancpain Endurance Series career in 2015, and a year after that it will also race in the most important North American and Asian events.
