Ferrari F40 remains a highly coveted vintage car, on the top of the shopping list of many millionaires who are thinking about putting together a nice car collection. The most recent example to be sold in an auction is this one, owned previously by F1 legend Nigel Mansell, and it went for 870,000 USD or 690,000 Euros.
Now, we know from previous Ferrari F40 auctions, namely the one that sold Rod Stewart’s car, that this model is worth more than that. It’s actually in the millions. And there hasn’t been a decline in the demand for the F40 or classic cars in general to drive the prices down.
That’s why we can only conclude this one was sold for $870K because Nigel has beaten the hell out of it when he owned it! We are only kidding, of course. The Brit had Formula 1 cars and Indy cars for that purpose at the time. The F40 is said to be in perfect condition. People who buy this kind of motors are prepared for huge repair and maintenance bills, so that’s not really a concern anyway.
This Ferrari F40 was sold by Bonhams at an auction event in Knokke-Le-Zoute, Belgium, to an unidentified telephone bidder.
