Porsche realized fair early that their special sports car are not like anything else and that they need to prepare their customers and teach them how to drive these beasts. So in 1974 they launched the Porsche Driving School for this very purpose. Today the division is celebrating its 40 anniversary.
Over the years of course Porsches have become safer and easier to drive, and Porsche Driving School has updated its courses so instead of just a series of serious courses, it now provides fun-filled performance oriented driving lessons, teaching the customers to enhance their skills while having a blast. Porsche now has SUVs and four-door sedans in its lineup, so the school has invented new courses to cover them. They even have unique winter driving programs.
The first Porsche Driving School was launched 40 years ago at the Hockenheimring race track in Germany. Today, they are spread all over the globe and they are well-funded organizations with their own facilities and fleets. The Porsche Sport Driving School fleet at Barber Motorsports Park, for instance, consists of over 45 new Porsche vehicles. In early 2015 another U.S.-based school will be launched at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta.
In this gallery you see some of the cars available at the Barber Motorsports driving school and some of the courses they teach. Seems like great fun…
