Ford Racing rendered the efforts of all the other Mustang tuners pointless by unveiling the Mustang GT King Cobra package at the SEMA show. In partnership with Roush they have created what can only be described a badass supercharged GT with the coolest name ever given to a car.
The 2015 Mustang GT King Cobra package comprises a 2.3L Twin Vortices Series (TVS) supercharger developed by Roush, complemented with a six-rib belt drive system, intake manifold, electronic throttle body, air inlet system, fuel rail and high-flow fuel injectors, complete air-to-liquid intercooler system and the Ford Racing performance computer calibration. They haven’t revealed yet the detailed performance figures for this setup, but they say it makes 600+ horsepower.
Apart from the “Super Pack”, King Cobra also features Ford Racing’s “Drag Pack” and “Handling Pack”. The former includes heavy-duty half shafts, and a rear sub-frame kit with pre-installed high-performance bushings, while the latter lowers the car approximately one inch with front and rear lowering springs and adds new rear shocks and a stabilizer bar kit.
Sadly Mustang GT King Cobra is a one-off concept and a showcase for Ford Racing’s first performance packages available for the 2015 Mustang. Then again, if you order all the available packages together, the end result should be something very similar to this.
