Well, this was bound to happen, wasn’t it? Yesterday we showed you a Shooting Brake version of the new Aston DB10 for James Bond, and now someone else has rendered it as a convertible. If Aston Martin DB10 Volante looks too much like a Vantage Volante that’s because it is pretty much the same car.

The DB10 is in fact a restyled V8 Vanatge designed as a one-off for the upcoming James Bond flick called SPECTRE. Aston Martin was tapped to come up with a bespoke car for the fictional secret agent in a bit of a hurry and this is what they have come up with.

Now, because of the name, DB10, some say this concept previews the replacement for the DB9 which is due in 2017. If that’s true, it means this virtually Aston Martin DB10 Volante will someday be produced as the drop-top version of the DB9 successor. We’re not too sure about this whole thing though, as it would be a step backwards for Aston to make the DB9 smaller and, well, less pretty.

Whichever way the styling of future Aston Martin models is headed, the mechanicals will be improved no end. As you know, AMG is now fully onboard, committed to modernize the underpinning of Aston cars with advances chassis technologies and great new engines.
