The GT3 RS version of the 991 series 911 is undoubtedly Porsche’s worst kept secret in recent years. Then again, they never put any real effort into keeping it under wraps. The car was spotted undisguised way too often in various parts of the world, most recently in Sweden.
Save a bit of shiny trim pieces and some emblems, this is what the production Porsche 991 GT3 RS will look like when it’s launched next year. Boasting a large rear wing, bigger air intakes, and lowered ride height compared to the normal GT3, the RS is an unhinged track monster powered by a 4.0 liter, 500 horsepower flat-six engine.
Just like the new GT3, the Porsche 991 GT3 RS will be a PDK-only model. So it will put off some of the car’s traditional customers while attracting new ones. According to the latest insider reports, the lightened, stiffened RS will also feature bespoke lightweight alloys measuring 20-inch in diameter up front and 21 inch out back.
The combination of lightweight and extra power will make the 991 GT3 RS one of the fastest road going Porsches ever built. The word on the street is the car has already popped in a 7:10 lap at the Nurburgring.
