As we reported yesterday, Porsche’s factory driver and former Formula star Mark Webber has been involved in a huge crash during the six-hour endurance race of Interlagos in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Porsche has now released an official statement regarding Mark’s condition.
According to Porsche Mark Webber, who was immediately hospitalized after the crash, has suffered bruising and concussion, but fortunately he is generally OK and without any major damage to his vital organs. Webber, after all, is a tough Aussie who can take a few hits without bending. Either that, or he’s got used to being in accidents by now. This is Mark’s fourth major accident in his motorsport career!
Webber remains under observation at the hospital for some time before returning to the UK later this week.
“I’m quite sore this morning, am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache. I’ve got no recollection of the accident or how it happened. The team is looking into the details to find out more. Thanks to the medical team at the track and here at the hospital, who did a great job and are looking after me very well,” commented a bruised Mark Webber.
“On a positive note, it’s great that the boys in the number 14 car managed to bring home the victory, which is a fantastic way to finish off the season. I’m already looking forward to getting out there again next year.”
