Even though it’s not exactly hot news, the debut of the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, the most bonkers version of the German SUV, at the Detroit Motor Show attracted a lot of attention. That probably has to do with the fact that it has 570 horsepower!
High powered SUVs are generally considered the most pointless cars on the face of the earth, but nobody can deny the huge appeal of a vast car with loads of power. You kind of feel like the master of the worlds in something like this, especially if drives as well as the Cayenne does.
The 2016 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S has a 4.8-liter V8 biturbo engine has 570 hp (419 kW) and 800 Nm (590 ft lb) of torque. Performance-wise, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds – which is 0.4 seconds faster than the previous model (0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds). Its top speed is now 284 km/h (176 mph). It can also lap the North Loop of the Nürburgring in 7:59.74 minutes.
But that’s not really the most important part of it. The chassis, suspension, and the sophisticated electronics play a bigger part in giving the car its unique character and capabilities. To name a few we can mention the active roll stabilization system, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). Then there are those massive ceramic brake discs and 21-inch wheels. No wonder this heavy, massive SUV drives like a sports car.
2016 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S goes on sale in Germany in the second quarter of year, priced from 166,696 Euro.
