One of the most fascinating cars of this year’s Detroit Motor Show, without a question or shadow of doubt, was the production version of Acura NSX. The new Japanese super car brings back a name with remarkable history and combines it with up ultra-sophisticated technology.

The production Acura NSX arrived at NAIAS wearing a special red color. We had seen the concept version only in serious colors like grey, white and blue. So this choice of color might be Acura hinting at the fact that the NSX is also good at fun and games. Just because it is cleverer than Bill Gates doesn’t mean it’s boring!

That said, one might find the bewildering array of high-tech stuff in this car a bit overwhelming. The 2017 Acura NSX is powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine mated to a three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system and a 9-speed dual clutch transmission. And this whole system is governed by an intelligent Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All Wheel Drive (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD) featuring a bunch of different driving modes.

All this make the NSX awesomely quick, but most likely in a Nissan GT-R sort of way. It may not be exciting to drive in the way a Ferrari 458 is exciting. But hey, let’s see it in action in the real world before we judge it.
