The famous British tuner of Mazda MX-5 models, BBR, announced the launch of a bespoke program for the new 2016 model. The new BBR Mazda MX-5 is mainly focused on the performance of this extremely lovable sports car, but they promise some goodies for the exterior as well.

They are not yet ready to reveal what those goodies might be, but in their own words, BBR Mazda MX-5 will get a styling package that will “add more presence to the svelte lines” of the car. In all fairness, the new MX-5 is a hard car to modify and enhance visually. So we’re very intrigued to see what these guys have in mind. Judging by these teaser picture, a lot of wings and spoilers are on the cards, as well as new tailpipes and mean black wheels.

As for the mechanical bits, BBR will begin by modifying the 2.0 liter Skyactiv model and getting as much as 200 horsepower out of it. That is a healthy upgrade over the standard, and pretty satisfying for a car as light and agile as the good old Miata. But they are not stopping at that. Later on there will be even more powerful packages available for the roadster. Needless to say, those “hot” version will also get deep suspension and brakes modifications to stay in one piece when you push them.
