New Mazda MX-5 Officially Unveiled

New Mazda MX 5 0 600x340 at New Mazda MX 5 Officially Unveiled

Mazda did a good job keeping the looks of the new 2015/16 MX-5 Miata a secret right until debut night. They created a lot of hype and anticipation, which is probably why the car looks just a tad disappointing now that we get to see it. Was it kind of overhyped?

Maybe disappointing is a harsh word. After all, it’s a Mazda MX-5. We knew styling has never been top priority with this car. The new Miata boasts an advance version of Mazda’s KODO design language which brings back a more tamed iteration of the smiley face, probably for technical reasons, and a pair of rather featureless headlights.

That sweet compact roadster form of the car remains intact though, and if anything emphasized upon thanks to new flared wheel arches and curved hips. The rear end design of 2015 Mazda MX-5 is more successful than the front end, what with the fancy taillights, diffuser and dual tailpipe.

As for the technical details, Mazda hasn’t announced any facts and figures yet, but they say this car is the most compact of any generation MX-5 so far and is more than 100 kilograms lighter than the model it replaces. Plus, it is chock full of SKYACTIV technologies. Details of the engines and drivetrain options for 2015 Mazda MX-5 will be revealed later.

Great, now bring on the new Alfa Romeo Spider, please!
