If you have been following the tale of Bentley’s SUV, it was supposed to be ready years ago, but they made such a mess of the design, they were forced to go back to the drawing board and do it all over again. They have fixed it now, and they’ve given the new SUV a name as well: Bentley Bentayga.

So they may have addressed the design issues, but the name may still need a bit of work. Last we heard, the Bentley SUV was supposed to be called Falcon or Phoenix or something. The name Bentayaga has apparently came from Bentely’s relation with the rugged peak of the Roque Bentayga in the subtropical Canary Islands.

Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, comments: “Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments.”

As for the car itself, we probably won’t see the Bentley Bentayaga sooner than March and the Geneva Motor Show. But the company’s officials promise it’ll be the pinnacle of luxury and performance. As long as it doesn’t look anything like the awful EXP 9, it’ll be alright.
