Ford Edge Sport 600x373 at 315 hp Ford Edge Sport Launches in Spring

Ford announced the launch of a new variant of their Edge crossover this spring. Boasting 315 horsepower from a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, the 2015 Ford Edge Sport is another try to see if the Edge can survive in this crowded and unforgiving segment.

On the surface, things are looking good. The EcoBoost engine in the Ford Edge Sport has 350 lb.-ft. of torque which gives the car rather brisk performance while fuel consumption rating remains reasonably low at 18 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined (all-wheel-drive version does 17/24/20).

Ford Edge Sport also features sport-tuned suspension with front and rear antiroll bars that are 15 percent stiffer than the base model. It also has revised damping and rides on 20-inch standard polished aluminum wheels (21-inch available).

The visual traits setting the Edge Sport apart from the ordinary models include standard LED taillamps and LED signature lighting, plus vibrant new colors including Electric Spice, Bronze Fire Metallic and Magnetic. Inside you get goodies such as leather-trimmed sport seats with perforated suede inserts, aluminum brake and accelerator pedal covers, ambient lighting and metal-plated accents. The car also features an 8-inch SYNC infotainment system.

To be launched this spring, Ford Edge Sport starts at $38,100 which is exactly 10 grand more than the base model.
