Ferrari has just released a video highlighting the launch event for the Ferrari 488 GTB at the company’s headquarters in Maranello. They made the launch of this car an unusually big deal, probably to compensate for the fact that it didn’t received much love from the press when it was introduced.
Ferrari 488 GTB is a significant car as replaces the 458 Italia, one of the most important models Ferrari has made in modern times. It is more than just a face-lifted version of the 458, as it comes with a brand-new turbocharged engine and cleverer electronic aids than the Speciale. The GTB is a completely different animal than the Italia.
The engine powering the 488 GTB is a 3.9 liter unit boosted by two turbochargers, developing an amazing 670 horsepower. That makes the 488 almost as quick as the F12, but a lot more economical. The word is this car can achieve 20 mpg, which is a record for Ferrari!
