Mere hours after Ferrari released the first pictures of their new GT super car, the 488 GTB, X-Tomi published his own rendition of the car as a Spider. Judging by the evidence here, it must have taken him like half an hour to render this Ferrari 488 GTB Spider!

But it’s a job well done, and if someday Ferrari decides to drop the top on the GTB, chances are it will look pretty close to what you see here. In order to make the Ferrari 488 GTB Spider, X-Tomi took a 458 Spider’s top half and merged it with the body of the 488. And voila, there’s your Spider GTB.

The new Ferrari looks to the past in the sense that it is an homage to the legendary 308 GTB, but heralds a new era for Ferrari GT cars with its twin-turbo V8 engine. Naturally-aspirated V8s are a thing of the past for the Italian car maker. From now on all the V8s will be turbocharged and all the V12s will be hybrids.

We are not complaining, of course. The 3.9 liter V8 in the 488 GTB makes an astounding 670 horsepower, which is translated into truly blistering performance thanks to a number of ultra-sophisticated electronic systems. The future seems quite bright for Ferrari.
