The new Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf, as you may know, was created at first solely for the Middle East market where Aston thought would be the only place where people would pay crazy money for a re-bodied Rapide S. But when they finished the car, they stepped back and were pretty impressed with what they’d achieved.
So now Aston has decided to make more Tarafs and offer it not just in the Mid East, but also in Continental Europe, the United Kingdom and South Africa. They engineers are currently busy working out a system to make the Lagonda in either left or right-hand drive.
As mentioned, Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf is a re-bodied Rapide S, but that doesn’t mean it is not special. The car owes its existence to a new trend in Aston Martin which gives priority to Special Edition and bespoke models. It is the same program that has spawned Aston Martin Vulcan supercar, Vantage GT3 special edition, One-77, V12 Zagato and the CC100 Speedster Concept.
Built by Aston’s Q department, the Lagonda Taraf is powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine and benefits from a bespoke cabin and improved ride quality compared to the Rapide. But the main reason for buying this model remains that unique and classy body. It is a modern interpretation of old Aston designs, and it looks absolutely fantastic.
