McLaren Sports Series 600x323 at McLaren Sports Series Set for New York Debut

Ron Dennis is a very busy boy these days, managing the affairs of his company’s F1 team while putting out new models almost very other week. So after presenting us with the new P1 GTR and the 675LT, he is now promising to unveil the long-awaited McLaren Sports Series at the New York Auto Show in April.

The latest teaser video for McLaren Sports Series shows the car, appropriately enough, doing some winter testing. And it seems like the driver is having way too much fun drifting around in the snow:

Pitched as a full-blooded sports car, the McLaren Sports Series will get a toned down version of the 3.8 liter bi-turbo V8 from the 650S with power output somewhere between 550 to 575 horsepower. That, and the weight of the car, will put it directly in the Porsche 911 Turbo S’ line of fire.

The MSS will keep some of its siblings’ supercar trait such as carbon fiber tub and body panels, as well as a minimalistic interior with a driver-focused cabin and lightweight seats and stuff. It will be offered in both coupe and spider bodystyle, and, rest assured, there will be many different editions of it following the standard version.
