There are a lot of new sports cars to be launched in the course of 2015, and the hot out of the oven Porsche 991 GT3 RS is definitely in the top ten. It is a little disconcerting, then, to realize this car, a brand-new Porsche costing north of $170K USD, has a considerable amount of plastic in its build.

Yep, that cool aero kit, those fender flares, air intakes, and most importantly, the engine cover, are all cheap-looking black plastic. To be honest we were expecting carbon fiber, preferably the naked sort!

Then again, RS Porsches have never been about the looks. They are all about the performance, and none more so than the new Porsche 991 GT3 RS with its 500 horsepower engine and PDK transmission. This new trailer Porsche has released for this car reflect this fact rather beautifully:

And while we’re at it, we should probably have a closer look at the interior too. Things are much better here, with a nice and small steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, carbon fiber trims on the dashboard, and 918-esque leather and carbon seats. That signature dish of all GT3s, the roll cage is also there all true and correct. Despite being a hard-core performance machine, Porsche 991 GT3 RS comes with an automatic mode for the gearbox, air con, say nav, and all the basic luxury amenities that make life easier for the driver.
