When Kia Motors unveiled the 2016 Optima at the New York Auto Show, the question on everybody’s mind was if there is a station wagon version of this car in the works. They had gone reason to wonder too, since Kia had unveiled the Sportspace Wagon only a month earlier in Geneva.
So while all the evidence point to the fact that a Kia Optima Wagon might indeed be in the pipeline, the company’s officials have discarded the reports as mere rumors and did so with an aloofness characteristic of sheer disinterestedness.
That said, they might change their mind when they see the rendering above, depicting what a production Kia Optima Wagon could look like. Well, not that it would look particularly special, as it would be an ordinary Optima with a big box attached to its booty. But nobody can deny the appeal of such a thing in terms of sheer value.
With those looks, the level of quality and features we have come to admire in Korean cars, and the added practicality of the wagon body style, Kia Optima Wagon has all its needs to be a winner. Having the hybrid powertrain already available for the Optima in this car, well, that’s just the icing on the cake, isn’t it?
