So after a couple of teasers and previews we now get to see the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage in its official glory, and bot is it startling. Before this we had seen the car’s rear end which was a very nice view. We’re afraid we can’t say the same thing about its front end.

The front end of BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage is, truth be told, horrendous. We do realize the beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but honestly who would look at that gopping face and call it pretty? What really gets under one’s skin is the fact that this car is supposed to be a modern-day interpretation of the beautiful and classy 70’s CSL Batmobil, but it looks more like a bad caricature of Winnie the Pooh.

At any rate, BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage is what will be represented at the 2015 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este as the official BMW concept car. As per usual, the company uses big words to describe the car in an effort to justify the bad looks, starting with the CSL which they say stands for “Coupé Sport Leichtbau.” There is some truth to that, since the structure is made from a blend of carbon fiber and aluminum.

As that 3.0 in the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage name suggests, the car is powered by a six-cylinder in-line engine which has an eBoost feature. That is about as much details BMW is willing to divulge about the technical specs of the car for now. Not that it matters, of course, because hopefully this car will never be produced, even in small numbers, and we won’t have to see it ever again.
