The Circuit de la Sarthe is ready, the teams have arrived in the city, and everything is set for the 2015 edition of the most glamorous motorsport event in the world, Le Mans 24 Hours, to get underway this weekend. Yesterday some of the contenders hit the streets of Le Mans showing off their handsome racing machines and unique liveries.
The highlight of this good-looking crowd was the Aston Martin Vantage GTE art car fielded by Darren Turner, featuring a unique livery design by German artist Tobias Rehberger. The design is play with geometric shapes, colors and lights to create an illusion of speed and movement even when the car is stationary. And it looks pretty awesome.
We are also looking forward to seeing the new Porsche 991 RSR in action. The German racer may look a bit unsightly around the front what with that gaping mouth and bewildered eyes, but no one who likes cars can deny those wide hips, hunkered down profile, and giant rear wing look so good, it’s almost erotic!
As for other notable cars you will see in this gallery, there are a couple of Corvette C7Rs, a whole bunch of Ferrari 458 GTs, more Aston Martins and Dodge Vipers. The LMP1 contenders aren’t bad to look at either, especially Porsche new 919 Hybrid which look terribly serious about ending Audi’s reign at Le Mans this time around.
