When ace racing drivers like Walter Röhrl crash a car at the race track it is sort of like supermodels falling over on the catwalk. It’s just something that happens, but you can’t help but giggle a bit when you see it. Being a good sport, Herr Röhrl himself laughs at what happened at Sachsenring when he tried to get a Porsche 918 around it.
This is also heartwarming for the rest of us. I mean if a man like Walter Röhrl can still crash, we shouldn’t beat ourselves up when we do it.
The Porsche 918 crash was the result of a high-speed spin that sent Walter and the Porsche catapulting towards the barrier nose-first. The impact seems severe in the footage, but fortunately the legendary driver is completely fine:
